This is a list of Guilds.

Doomed - Originally coded by Dz, later picked up by Bive and Viper
Original Knights - Originally coded by Celeborn and Milamber
Nightblades - Originally coded by Charmangle, not sure if they actually went live
Damned - Originally coded by Ramses, then later taken care of by Plaque and Radagim
Mages - Originally coded by Ppannion with help from Emerald and Joachim
Original Monks - Originally coded by Ingis (brought back by Rohan and Anna)
Musicians - Originally coded by Beatmaster
Agnostics - Originally coded by Badman
Chaos - Originally coded by Cabal
Dragons - Originally coded by Jaso
Dragon Hunters - Originally coded by Blanka
Drunks - Originally coded by Klingie and Tsc with help from Bert
Prophets - Originally coded by Profezzorn
Runed - Originally coded by Newt
Kittens - Originally coded by Lysander
Hunters - Originally coded by Vincent
Arcane Investigators - Originally coded by Zander
Cult of EVIL - Originally coded by Jaf

This list is not necessarily complete and is correct to the best of my knowledge. Some of them, I did not have the opportunity to see in action. If anyone wants what I know of any of them, ask away.

If there is enough interest, I might be persuaded to do the same with a list of Clubs.

The funkiest idea I ever saw was ... erm, Iceblink and Kiki's? Some guild that could take anything and throw it at people, wildly and violently! Wink

Nice one, Snafu!

I'm almost surprised you knew about Musicians' Guild Smile

Didn't see any other musicians than me and my friends ever on.
Loved Beatmaster's area, easy FULL healing potions, pretty nifty weapons (put that bender in the lute), good XP kills, fun (not that medieval though).

And the spell of vibration rocked more than I knew when I could use it, think it was about 20% off from initial HP, WITHOUT STARTING A FIGHT!

Not to mention the source code which wasn't protected *cough cough*.

I really would play as a Musician again (pun not intended), and also as an investigator, that was fun too!

Thanks Carrion!

As for sUiko-den's questions...lemme see...

Doomed - Not sure why it closed. I remember it vaguely when I first started playing.
Original Knights - Still around but heavily recoded from what it was. Who rememebrs Berserk?!? Wink
Nightblades - As I said, not sure it ever came out in full..I believe it was test-played.
Damned - Not sure why it was closed other than several recodes. The last recode was supposedly being undertaken by Beldin.
Mages - This guild was replaced with Simyarins some time around 1995.
Original Monks - They had existed before I was around as Ingis, the recode is what we play now plus some additional recodes.
Musicians - I'm not sure, but I thought it had been around when I started playing although it was probably closed by then. The area was still there however. I remember the lore heard about it.
Agnostics - This one I believe was around when I started but closed soon after.
Chaos - This one I used to have a character in. Those we knew the guild would remember, I believe, 'explode head?'
Dragons - This guild was closed about time I started, mortal enemy to Damned.
Dragon Hunters - I don't remember this one at all open while I was here.
Drunks - I remember when this one came about. They pk
against Damned guild. Talk about bad breath.
Prophets - This one was the last bastion of the old guilds closed. By old guilds, I mean those where you could come in and get full skills at level 19. Most newer guilds (anything khorne and past, had to adhere to a skills based system, where if you left, you came back with nothing...this was to prevent a lot of guild hopping and of course add feeling to the guilds)
Runed - This had not been open when I started but was talked about.
Kittens - This one lasted for a year or so but was extremely popular among the mortals. All of my new characters used to start out in this guild and I have many fond memories of it. Now all my characters start in Adventurer's Guild, which did not exist when I first started.
Hunters - This was also a very popular guild and is missed by many players.
Arcane Investigators - I don't remember this one being around when I started.
Cult of EVIL - This guild was also not around when I started.

Trivia...which guild do you think was the earliest guild?

Heh... that was ours.  It's still not open, because we just don't have time... anyone worthy want to take it over?

The power you mentioned was the "Tantrum" power in the Guild of Simpletons.

It really should be created.  It came about through a conversation with a character named Bix.  So did Lepers...

This is the case.  I was one of the test players for the guild.  It had some great ideas, but a busy guildmaster, and it lacked the playability for a guild that would last a while.

I testplayed the recode also.  Unfortunately, it was mostly formed damned players that tested it, and we pretty much found it a little boring.  It just lacked that certain spark...

Has there been a better rivalry since?

The closest, that would be interesting were it even possible, would be Knights vs Vikings. I mean, there IS a viking attack. Now that'd be fun. Other ones might be Khorne (no magic) vs Simyarins (pure magic)

That would be hilarious with the group powers in lepers. Especially when one thinks of the traditional vampire as beyond getting diseases and lepers full of disease.

Two lepers were a rare sight, it was usually 4-5 of them, when they dared come out and play Wink

yeah, think thats the correct number. well i would dare challenge a vampire alone if i wasnt in need of my bandage. and if the vampires didn't have that power which make everyone unable to move Razz

But you're right, there were a lot of competition Vampires vs Lepers, until the Darks came around, tearing through your bandages like there was no tomorrow Wink

Old kniggets kicked some serious butt.  Combination of berserk and fireball was a ton of fun.   Smile

Gotta love the old Chaos guild.  Nothing better than turning everyone into a bunch of chickens.

I remember being a testplayer for Avis' lepers with Photon and then being able to slip through the cracks and keep the character even though the other testplayers were deleted.

Ah yes, Simpletons. Icelink and Kiki asked for some coding help. I whipped everything up in a few days (most of it was done). In fact, there was only ONE POTENTIAL infinite recursion bug that kept it from ever opening.
