About 2 years ago I made successful 2 month PK career in khorne guild.  While it's no longer fresh in my mind, I thought it might be interesting to reveal what it was like.

Conventional wisdom has always been that khornes are very difficult to PK since it became necessary to keep killing to maintain your ratio.  This is true.  You almost certainly would have to rely on your client.  You can't fall back on adventurer tricks most of the time since khornes cannot use magic.  I had an internal list of kills in my client and I could zoom to each one with a single keypress, and then another keypress would insta-heal me and take me to the next kill on the list.

The fun started when other PKers would start using anti-khorne stretegies.  I looked upon this with fondness since it showed that there could be adaptation to particular guilds in interesting ways in PK, even if the guild was no longer conceived as being suitable for PK.  In this case, they would attack my kills and try and steal them from me, preventing me from sacrifice them.  I in turn adapted to this by moving onto my next kill on my list, and let them go to work on my kill in my absence, and then come back and try to take the kill from them (or attack the killer).  It is amusing to realise that khornes are so fast that they can do this.  It was fun trying to out-do each other.

I was hunted quite a lot.  Vampires were the main culprit.  I think they also hated fighting me and my being polar opposite in my ability to heal, which does NOT suite them at all (I can leave and come back in full shape as long as I'm not dominated, while they just get weaker and weaker as they rip me).  It got kind of repetitive but it was more interesting than advancing my rank.

I remember making 3 successful kills, but I don't recall who the third one was.  I used a dirty trick on the first one, and the second one was too easy; I ambushed a simyarin and he fumbled a spell to teleport away.  He didn't even get a chance to fight back.  I had quite a few encounters with that simyarin; he liked to use invisibility a lot and creep up on me (fortunately I knew some kills where he had to teleport to me since he didn't know the location), but I would drink a potion that allowed me to see him anyway, and I'd go "hi" and then run away while he was busy preparing a spell. Smile

I eventually died due to linkdeath.

If you want to try PKing a khorne, it can be great fun.  The loss is, of course, intense, but I think that raising the rank of a khorne is so boring that PK can inadvertantly raise your rank higher by making you play more.  So it's really a win-win situation if you find ranking a khorne boring as sin.

Since khornes kill all the time, it also made sure that the PK didn't become boring.  I got the best of both worlds.  Since healing is a lot harder for everyone else (even monks!) they generally set their minds into one mode and end up waiting on green on the edge of their seats for some PKer to arrive.  They'd rather do that then roam out into the world and become prey rather than predator.  With khorne the two sort of merged together, it was easy to switch between PKing and normal killing, and I never felt like a sitting duck when I was out in the world fighting (but it still encouraged others to come out and get me).

I don't think you can do very well without taking full advantage of speedwalks; the change to the guild was precisely in response to client usage, so it is adjusted to that and those without speedwalks are handicapped.  If you heal more than you kill then the matrix gets too expensive, which means you run out of money, and money is vital to PK.  The important lesson is that khornes can still PK with success, but generally it requires a lot of savvy to get anywhere.

Another interesting fact is that khornes have a rather esoteric advantage specifically against vampires, but I won't reveal what it is since it is spoiler
