Exploring should be fun, many puzzles, like the riddle pot north of Larstown give some form of monetary reward or items which newbies are able to sell.

Some seemingly unnoticed ways of getting money is hunting orcs, birds and trolls for the Sheriff in Padrone's castle. Smile

Some prices:

dead orc: 10 gold pieces
dead orc shaman: 80 gold pieces
dead troll: 50 gold pieces
dead bird: 10 gold pieces

This can easily add up to quite a lot for a newbie. Smile

Share this tip freely to any real newbie instead of just giving them 5000 gold which you can easily afford. Smile

I believe it is more fun to work for your money in games than having some twinker like me just giving away some gold. Smile

Also they can try their hand at my new high win probability game, specially designed for newbies which quadrupels any bet if they win. Smile

I totally agree with you, Tredon. Unfortunately I am such a lazy bum I did exactly today what you described above, you even got the sum correct!

Good initiative, Tredon, I'll try to make an effort myself too.

The riddle pot you mentioned, Tredon, is from Snowstar's area.

While hunting certain monsters is a more active way for a newbie to earn money, I remember being somewhat traumatized after I unknowingly entered Padrone's castle from the kitchen, and then got my butt kicked by the Kung-Fu chef.  There are multiple entrances, and only the front gate prompts you to buy a ticket (I think).  So, when sharing such a tip, I think it would be important to inform newbies about purchasing a ticket to enter.

On a similar subject, I admit to giving out directions to certain kills/areas (but not quest-related), when I should be encouraging exploration.  While it might be necessary to tell a lost newbie how to get to the rabbit tunnels, at some point they have to learn how to explore and find things on their own.
