The clarion call has been sounded!  Molt will once again be unleashing his minions to attack the fair Basalt Keep.  For those who want to try your hand at it, log in and check the board in the adventurer's guild.  Send your application to Mami.  I'm not sure of the qualification requirements but if you wanted it, here's a shot Smile

Oh My,

I hadn't thought of the fact that our two commanders elite are now both MIA!

Still, we shall do Bluejedi and Pasca proud in absentia!

So..  did this actually happen?  Or did it happen and unhappen...  or?

Came across an old script in the theater club that started the stream of lovely (and not so lovely) BK memories, and then the posts here.

Lot of fun, those were.

It only kinda happened.  The clubs were rezzed for a short time, but with the new criteria that people had to enlist for each attack from both sides or it wouldn't happen.  Needless to say - there were very few attacks ever and it didn't take long before it just faded into the background again and the clubs were re-closed.

I did here some grumbling from some Wizzes that no new people were signing up, but with the criteria to fight in three before joining - and the actual attacks being so few (I am certain less than 10 happened) and far between - I am not sure how new people were supposed to get involved.

I think the code was still a bit messed up. Mami was still working on it and tweaking things when the attacks stopped.

As I recall, Mami had been under the impression that the attacks were only supposed to take place if there were sufficient players on both sides. And because there were no players (because of the criteria for joining), there were no attacks. I think the few attacks that did happen were initiated manually to get things started. One day I posted a note on the servants board about things and Mami told me that she had misunderstood how things had been and so would need to change the code. That might have been one of the reasons why the attacks stopped.

But I think it is quite likely that she ran out of motivation since there are hardly any players who are interested. I really don't blame her. The average number of mortals on the MUD these days seems to be less than 10.

BK attacks were great. It took me some time to get into them, but I loved them
in the end.

When they re-opened them, I was pretty excited - but I found it impossible to
re-join for the reasons mentioned earlier.

At the end of the day, the attacks were re-coded in an unworkable way. I would
have loved to have re-joined - feel free to blame inadequate mortals if it makes
people feel better about their code.

This is one of the worst things with Nanny. The things that you don't manage to join when they still exist. The reason is good, though. There are so many things you CAN do and experience in Nanny. Even after a lot of years, there are lots of stuff I haven't done (partly because my idly way of playing, though).

Basalt attack is one of the things I never experienced. Not yet, anyway.
