Here's a great one from Unikhorne and I'll quote it verbatim:

Perhaps living in a consumist society as we are "If you could have any one thing in the world, what would it be?"

Not totally sure if this was a question of materialism or if one could choose freely...but I cannot see any restrictions so I imagine that I could choose freely then.

Then, if I might choose whatever I want I would go for "total knowledge". I guess this could be a stupied choice, maybe one doesn't really want to know everything...but since I have no clue at this moment I'd still go for that one. I would gladly take the risks, whatever those might be.

I'm agreeing with Dissectica here.
Of course, infinite power and wealth wouldnt hurt either, but I suppose that knowledge about *everything* will lead to those things too.  Twisted Evil

I would not want to have anything.. really.. And about total Knowledge, I suppose with that you could get just about everything you want.. But no, that is nothing for me.. Just think about it.. If you knew everything, then think about how boring it would be. Not having the pleasure of learning or discover new stuff or feeling the expetations one can feel to see the outcome of something, not knowing if it will work or not..

Hmmm, I'm afraid total knowledge would be more a curse than a blessing. Like knowing the day of your death (but we discussed it already) or knowing something bad about ppl you care for...*brrrrr*

My choice would be "happiness".
I'm not sure if it answers the question, since it looked more material oriented, but i can't see anything material that would mean that much to me that i preferred it above anything else.
A few years ago maybe my answer would have been "free internet connection" but i got it now (well, not free, but cheap at least Wink )

I read the question as this thing is ADDED to your other stuff, not THE ONLY THING AT ALL... Correct? Ok, here goes...

Without trying to get more than what's intended (like 'the world's most valuable painting, so I could by 1000 cool gizmos!'), I'd say... a really good bicycle... [ WTF? That sounded really boring Smile ]

Hmm, 1 billions $. I heard all the time that better choose health, happiness, luck and all kind of things like this. With money you an have it all. And if is to get sick and die, I think it's better to die rich then poor.  At least your children have a good life.

I want a world where society is designed so that all are taken care of, there is no need for money, no need for conflict, and just the freedom to pursue whatever you'd like.

That way, I don't have to wish for money, and I don't have to bother with people hitting me up for money Wink  And I also don't have to worry about others inflicting sorrow on me or my friends.

Oh, and while I'm at it, why not make all good tasting sweets totally healthy for you (fat free, sugar free, low calories, vitamins etc...) Wink

Uhh I posted something this morning but didn't get saved it seems.
I'd like to be happy, to have a good life so when I die at around 90 I wouldn't regret anything and die peacefully as I did everything I wanted and I got everything I wanted. Smile
To have a good life means both physical and mental health, a lot of fun, a lot of money (not necessary a LOT but a lot - yoy got the idea). I mean just enuff to have my little island somewhere and to have a decent car or two and like a T1 STABLE internet connection and few other stuff like this.[/b]

I would want money, and not just a little bit either. I would want billions or even trillions of dollars. Enough money so that I would never ever have to worry about it ever again. So my friends and family and descendents would never have to worry about it. I would be able to jet off to Europe whenever I wanted and take tons of courses at college to learn about anything and everything I want to.
I could help save the whales and all the animals and buy rainforest land to preserve it and feed hungry people everywhere....

Money might not be able to buy you happiness but it can buy security and security would surely make me happy. :p

Hmmm... The answers seem to stray a bit from the intention of the question methinks... Not necessarily a bad thing, but I often get the feeling that we answer different questions, and that I would want to clearify exactly which question _I_ answered... Perhaps it's the nature of the 'one-liner question'...

Ooops, more of a rant, I guess...

I too would want money ... enough so that I could totally ignore the economic aspect of live, I would simply have enough to pay my bills, buy the things I need etc.

To be able to get rid of that constant dark cloud over my head that is economy, would be priceless (pun intended).

I interpreted this question as Carrion and Oasis, and have a really
hard time answering.  There isn't a single item, but I would want a
pedicure a month for the rest of my life.

The broader sense of the question is easy: time.  Time with all its
implications ie we're financially stable, neither of us *has* to work,
we can travel as a family, etc....

When I first read the question, I read it as Communist society...now I see where I made my mistake LOL I should wear my glasses when Im posting. So anyways for a while I have been sitting here thinking, ok what would I want in a communistic society...Now I SEE CONSUMIST  Laughing silly me.

So if I could have one thing , besides the given like money (whoever said Money doesnt buy happiness, has never been as poor as me) and Basic needs. I would have to say, I would want a super super computer...I see a computer as a gateway, to knowledge information fun etc. and I would want this super computer sitting in my Fantastic Pine Log Cabin sitting on the edge of a forest next to a beautiful cliff droppping to a perfect beach next to the ocean with snowcapped mountains looming beside the forest....see a girls gotta have dreams Smile

I love my computer, but to have an infinite amount of hard drive space, a screen I dont have to squint at to read, and a modem to make speedy surfers weep. Now that sounds like my cup of tea.

And ofc all of this would be possible because Im richer than Oprah...
so i still guess it all comes back to money  Rolling Eyes
