If you could have a vacation home(s) anywhere where would they be? (Please try to limit this answer somewhat, it would be easy to say "one on every continent" or something so be creative.
)

One in a big city with a nice 'pulse', eg New York
One in a winter sports area, eg Cervinia (in the italian Alps)
One in a sunny, quiet place, eg Lefkas or some other greek island
One in a sunny, high-rolling place, eg Monte Carlo
Ummm, it really is hard to keep this short... I just stop here.

One at home home, in the city where I spent 9 years of my life (college, some work) -
Romania, Transylvania
.
One on some quiet
island near Australia
(a small island, it would be mine).
I could use one somewhere in
Sweden, Finland or Norway
(never been there, and I play this mud in Sweden... anyway would like to see some vikings too
)
One in
Tokyo
perhaps, I heard it's a really interesting city (and watched Lost in Translation, liked it too - should this go to the list of things I should be ashamed of?)
If I would be rich I think I would move to my little quiet island, I think I would love to live like that, without stress and noise around. Of course I would have net connection there and all I need. So this is the most important place I think.

I'd like a castle out on the highlands in Scotland ... or a place in some unspoiled piece of nature, perhaps in New Zealand.

But i _do_ have a vacation home, it is in Qqqq's Playervillage
Seriously, I see no use in having a vacation home far away, where i can go just once in a year or so..., if I feel like going to NY, London or a caraibic island, well, there's plenty of hotels there.
So I'd choose a place near home, somewhere in the Alps (maybe in the Valley of Fanes that yes, does exist IRL).
As for what i call the "paradises on earth", places where I'd like to live for a while, i think I've found quite a few, ...hmmm, let me remember:
Cornwall coast, between Newquay and St. Ives;
Sweden, Kwikkjock;
Yukon, Dawson City;
Germany, Freiburg;
Austria, anywhere;
Dalmatian Coast;
Greece, anywhere on the coast, far from big ugly towns;
Turkey, a little fisher village, 2 houses anda little restaurant, whose name i dont remember, somewhere near Izmir;
Scotland, Isle of Skye;
Ireland, Aran islands;
Nederlands, anywhere apart from Amsterdam,
The "northern capitals": Stockholm, Oslo, Helsinki, Copenhagen.
USA, Blue Ridge Mountains.
Canada; Vancouver and most of British Columbia...
... I guess i could continue forever and i probably forgot quite a few.
Guess what? I love travelling

I have a vacation home in Florida. I'd like to keep it.
But I'd also like one in the Grand Cayman Islands. It has great diving and lots to do. Plus, it's the best place to watch sea turtles, and the shipwrecks are really cool.
I'd also like a house on an island in the Pacific. I want to have to shuttle in to the mainland to see other people.

Well, I would surely pick a spot somewhere in Romania. The best places I´ve seen so far is Curtea De Arges or Poenari, extremely beautiful. It´s very green, many trees, almost no traffic and also the river Arges which for sure was a beautiful sight. Of course it really helps that Vlad´s old ruin is around as well, gives some nice touch of history to the area. Yeah, I would gladly have a summer house in this place

If I could have just one summerhouse it would be over in the
UK
somewhere. I have never been there (save for a flight through Heathrow) but I know I will love it. It's calling to me.
If I could have more than just one I'd add
Monterey, California
. I miss it there so much and my friends and I could reunite every so often and go partying like we used to.
I love
Linkoping
but I'd probably add one in Karlstad. It was so gorgeous there...but given the circumstances I'd better stick to Linkoping. *sigh*
And since I'm being a bit greedy I might as well add
New Zealand
. I would love to travel there and I'd be able to easily go to Australia and Asia....maybe on
Oahu
since I do miss Hawaii somewhat and that would be pretty close too....heck, I'll just have both.

I think I'd like 4 vacation homes:
1 somewhere in a remote spot in the Carpathian mountains right here in Romania. Somewhere around Brasov or Sighisoara I think.
1 somewhere in a remote spot in the Scandivavian peninsula
another in New Zealand (I simply LOVE the sights that can be seen in LOTR)
and the last would be somewhere in some exotic isnalds like Hawaii and such

Oh man oh man,
I'd love to have a vacation home right smack dab in the middle of Yosemite Valley (legal matters aside). Amidst waterfalls, mountains and forests, that would be my vacation paradise.
If I can't get that then my 2nd choice would be a house on a secluded part of a Fijian Island next to the beach. Warm waters to soak your feet in as you lounge in a beach chair watching the brilliant night sky....
And if I can't get that (drat, why not!!!) then that Nanny Island Commune doesn't sound too bad either
