I woke up knowing..today just wasnt going to be good. Rain, coming down in sheets, Case Management meeting at work, and the worse, Registering my daughter for kindy-garden. Im not ready to let go. I dont want to watch her grow. I want to protect her and keep her just for me. How can i do that, while she's gone. How can I not think about Columbine, or Lebanon. Will the teacher kiss her booboos? Will she cry when Daddy's pick up their kids? Worse *shudder* will she be ok with out me and forget me while I struggle to concentrate on anything but her. A million questions, and so few answers. So while getting ready for work, she approached me and said "mommy are ok?" I said "sure honey im fine" sweetly she smiles and sits there for a moment, then with an impish grin she says " Happy Easter", "aww baby thank you, but todays not easter", "I know" she says, "but it was a good day and so today will be good too." Yup today was not a good day, but now it is.

The empathy of kids is astounding, my own daughter is like that too and whatever ails me before she hugs me and asks me what's wrong, I've long forgotten by the time she finishes her question, looking at me with those wonderful eyes of her, eyes she got from me and her mother.

Planting kisses on their bruises cuts both ways, they return the favour tenfold Smile

Btw, I've been there, letting her grow up (mine's 4 1/2, still in progress) ... it'll get easier and watching them grow up and become even more distinct individuals is a marvel. Although I can say right now I will not like it when she'll be nearing her teens! Wink

I can totally relate to the kindergarten thing. Nick won't go for another year because of his birthday being in November but just last week he started preschool and it was so hard leaving him there. The only people that have watched him for the past 3.5 years are my family and his day care provider Gaby. She started watching him right before he turned 1 and has seen him go from a crawling baby to a crazy 4.5 year old running around everywhere.
I stayed with Nick at the preschool until I could see he felt a bit more comfortable and when they went into a different room to sing songs and such I left. It was hard because he started crying but he stopped soon after I left. It's really damn hard but when I went to pick him up afterwards he kept telling me about his friends and "School's great mom!"
Your daughter will love it too even thought it might be hard for a couple of days or so. Plus you have a whole bunch of us other single parents (and married parents) to talk to and lean on when going through this. *HUG*

And now for my rant: Most people have heard me complain about how noisy my upstairs and downstairs neighbors are. The ceilings and floors in this building let so much noise through it's like the people are in the next room (and the doors are open). Last night a police officer came to my apartment at 23:00 (11pm) on a noise complaint for MY apartment! Nick was asleep and I was out here on the computer because one of my neighbors was having some kind of band practice.
I have never gotten any message before this about being too noisy (even though it was another group of neighbors that were), they just called the cops. I explained to the cop about the floors/ceilings/noise but no matter what if a cop is called to your place they act like you're guilty, even when proven not to be.
So I wrote a letter to all my neighbors that I will post on all of their doors stating that I was neither the noisy neighbor nor the one that called in the complaint.
Sorry for this long rant but people doing stuff like that really pisses me off.
/Poogie who really hates police officers!

You prolly had a GOOD reason, as RL.
But if not, then just make a new char. Sometimes that helps. Smile

That *DEFINITELY* helps actually. Especially when you block your chars for two weeks and start to go nuts after 1. :p

Hehe, the old block your character's bit.  Everytime you think you're free Nanny pulls you back in!  Evil, I say!  Along these lines, I once blocked my chars for an extended period of time.   After that summer, I now have 2 sets of knights, monks and druids. Wink

Am I the only one who thinks block-login is the wrong way to go about it? I mean, it won't solve anything, as most of you say you end up making a new char (so that really does no good at all, because you'll most likely spend a lot of time playing that char up, or hanging around a lot more with it than you would your old character).

I mean if you can't stay away, but want to, your problem runs a little deeper than to be resolved by a little block-login Wink

Hello, my name is Poogus and I'm a NannyMUD addict. I admit it freely, I relish my addiction and I'm not giving it up. I left for other reasons but was discovered anyway when I created my new chars. I don't want to stay away from Nanny. If I did I would delete all my chars and get rid of everything Nanny related on my computer. This place isn't just an addiction though. It's a big, dysfunctional family and leaving it becomes as hard as trying to leave your real family, sometimes even harder.

And name block_login something along realize_how_much_you_do_miss_nanny_and_for_how_long_do_you_want_to_suffer, for crying out loud!

I've used that block_login command twice, and both times I ended up with a handful new characters who needed some TLC along with the ones I had prior to the block.

Don't do it! Block_login on the block_login command is my remedy!
Gah! Why are all my characters blocked when I get good ideas like this? This should be posted on a Nanny-board! This is soooo typical.

Doh!

That's right, the sentiment of my note would be this:

Give up, you're never getting away, embrace nanny, don't try to fight it! Wink
