As we were short of posts here goes.

A few years back, the knights guild was too prone to expel players.
The result was often the insertion of a disgruntled set of relatively
new players to Nanny. Not good, and not done anymore - as the current
knight GH and RTs rock (in my opinion).

This vacuum seems now to have been filled by the sims guild, which
is bannishing pretty requently it seems. To me, this is wrong for all the
same reasons.

My sim(s?) have been inactive for quite some time, so I don't know about this... Is it the guild admin that banish? Or school heads? Or?

The players are being banished. I mean according to the rules that apply to all players under 'help rules'

Simyarin guild has always had the ability to passively advance in the guild. Since the link was removed, that way of playing got more attractive.
That plus Gabe being both admin and guildhead makes catching and banishing cheaters a lot swifter.

My statistics show that active play is still the fastest way to advance in Simyarins though.
By using my client to count spellpoint spent through out my higher education, I've proven to myself that sp spent ~= guild advancing (the old assumption/fact).

Passively (not client casting) casting spells with the best spells for sp consumption gave me around 2000 sps / hour.

Actively hunting with the highest sp consumption spells gave me around 10-11k sps, when hunting with an balanced gold count.

10k sps / hour is very nice advancing, but kind of fades when I remember that with my chaos sim with link, I did 26k sps / hour solo Wink

Pardon my asking, but which link are you talking about?

I haven't got much sympathy with the robots - I'm more concerned
about the players that are banished from the guild (not the game).

I heard that a player was banished from HED-2 (last week) for
disclosing secrecy rules? Obviously, I don't know the full story, but it
seems on the face of it 'abitary'. I mean, I thought HED spells were
supposed to be secret (like DI spells)?

There was also that terribly handled affair with the 'spell that could be
learn't early' - where some chars were banished from the guild, some
given a gulld punishment and some just given a 'tut-tut'.

The vibes that I hear from affected players are not good.

Thanks so much, it's nice to be recognized.

Can't really comment on the situation in Sims, I am afraid - but I sure can sympathize with the problem.

It was a good spell for xping and partying, if linked to a monster/player, you would recieve spellpoints when the monster/player was damaged, it was removed when it was abused with the monk-monk healing abuse a few years back.

I hadn't heard about that recent affair, Maggs, would be interesting to hear about it. Breaking the rule of secrecy is a serious offence, with the harsh punishment of exile, it's a thing we simyarins have to learn to live with, though it pains me sometimes that youngsters fill their mind with useless spells. I don't like the lack of communication to the guild though, if the people and reason for expell/banishment could be announced on a board, it could serve as a reminder that the rules indeed are rules that needs to be followed.

I think this would be a good idea, as it often happens people have been thrown out of (some) guilds and when asking around nobody really knows, or just voice their own beliefs... An 'official' (guild) board with that info would be a nice feature... It would of course be of utmost importance what you actually write on the board, but probably better than just ignoring questions or having to answer them several times...

That player if Im right translated and explained some wards to another sim. When he got caught he admitted that he was wrong and he broke a guild rule. He didn't argue and beg for mercy or something. He knew what is the punishment for this. And he got banish.

And about the notes that supposed to be on sims board, i posted one in which i claimed explanations for what happend but it was removed because "i should ask that player myself what happend". Seems the admins don't like this kind of debates on guilds boards. That's it.

People talk whatever they want. I am very sorry if someone trying to help get banished.

I try to help, but using non-explicit vocabulary, and we can always offer to party to show them our art...most of the time, they dont want. These magic students normally have very clear what they want to know Cool

Whatever happened to mystery?

Now they want to know EVERYTHING in gory detail.

This brings back the days: I can tell you, but I'd have to banish you...er...well, you know what I mean Wink
