I like traditional fantasy monsters:
Dragons!
Unicorns!
Centaurs!
Mermaids!
Pegasi!
As for the reasoning: Just because!

Thanks to Leonard Nimoy (kicking out the jams) and his
In Search Of
television show, I have a fascination about the more modern mythical creatures.
Last year I drove up the west coast a couple hundred miles to visit the Bigfoot festival and frollick with other believers of Bigfoot and Sasquatch.
The Loch Ness monster also captures my imagination.
Of course, I guess my answers are off topic because they're both REAL and not mythological!
Edit: Let me add Trogdor, the Mothman and the Jersey Devil to the list

Modern:
Jackalope!
Older:
Charybdis! (of course)
Mermaids!
Zombies!
Vampires!
Kitsune!
Heroes! (in the ancient greek sense of the word: a demi-god cursed with one flaw)
Dragons!
And I'm sure there are others.

'Mythical beast'... That takes some thinking... *ponder* Gryphon and sphinx come to mind, perhaps it's the lion parts... When it comes to 'my' (Marvel) universe, I'd say Galactus (who isn't really a beast, but sooooo awesome).

Jabberwock! *burble*
I coded one on Nanny, but it never made it out to the playable area, luckily. It was deadly in a way that scared even my wiz.

Who can't help but get all warm and snuggly when they cozy up to a three-headed firebreathing dragon? Hmmm... idea!

I like elves, fairies, unicorns, pegasi, unipegs, dragons (especially the komodo dragons), phoenixes....
And I totally agree with Martinique. I love jackalopes. They're very popular here in Colorado.

I would have to say vampires, of course...and werewolfs. And good old Satan isn't that far away from the hot spot either
