Hello, friends - what's going on in the mud?
About six weeks ago, I decided to test the block_login command, and ever since that I haven't been able to log in to the mud. I will be back July 1st.
What I really hadn't expected, was missing Nanny _this_ much. I really miss it as if it was one of the most important things in my life... so maybe it is.
In an attempt to slay a little nostalgia, I will log off and go back to coding my area now, but I had to pop by to say hi. Also, to ask: What's going on in the mud?
Any new exciting areas? Any of my friends done great achievements? Any new exciting weddings? Have I missed any great parties? Any new quests?
I'll be back in July to celebrate wedding anniversary and hopefully finish the opening part of my area. Until then, I hope you're all fine!
Please say hello to everybody in Nanny from me!

Whoa! A new area may open soon??!!! I think my life on Nanny has just been revitalized! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
My sympathies on the effectiveness of the blocklogin command, I have always been too afraid to use it since it would only be effective during times of intense focus - such as final exams. Of course that is when I awake in cold sweats needing to play Nanny to burn off the stress.
Good luck with the coding!

I had the impression new areas opened all the time...?
Don't look forward to too much. Like everybody else I'm starting with ten rooms, and I hope you don't expect a brand new area made by a brand new wizard to contain hundreds of uniques and tough kills and great armours and large treasures and mighty quests. I'm doing my best, but expecting absolutely nothing is always the best way to get a nice surprise. :-)

Areas do open once in a while especially when there are wiz typo squad members who can check them as a new wizard cannot open an area without this. I know someone whos 11 rooms are waiting for a full check since the 4th of June.

I don't expect much, just the thrill of exploring a new area.
As for the Wiz typo squad... I'd be happy to volunteer, but I do not have a Wiz, which I thought was the prerequisite for the first run through.
If I am wrong about that, or if they are willing to bend the rules a little, I'll be happy to donate my skills as an explorer as well as my skills at English to the cause.
Can never have enough areas, no matter how small.

Don't worry
I'm sure Sir Yavathol, being the experienced player he is, can appreciate funny functionality and smart puzzles more than uniques and treasures

Hmmm, he also seems to be quicker than me in answering

For new wizzes, it's about unopened areas that has to be checked. So this has to be done by wizzes. Also Typo Squad (qualified typo-wiping personnel
) is needed and (I suspect) also their reply on the typo squad board, after checking, as kind of a proof...
Thanks for offering your help but this is not the moment when you can do it. Anyway I am positive that you will have things to add no matter how many wizards check it before you.
You already have a well-earned (and respected) reputation.
Anyway for the next step - if any - it's good to know that there are people who can and are willing to help.

Yavathol, the lightning fast Knight of the Round Table!
Actually, it was just good timing.
To be told, I much prefer the smart puzzles and aesthetics of an area. I am probably one of the few players from pre-2000 to still not use brief mode as a default. The work that is put into room descriptions (or not) is not lost on me and I so appreciate the thematics of it. There are certain areas that can just be "seen" better than others.
Maybe I just need to break down and get a wiz so that we can typocheck areas more quickly
might take some of the fun out of it for me though. Well, that and there is no way that this knight will ever be a Wiz, so have to build up another character to do it.

If you really enjoy exploring, better avoid immortality, I'd say. It surely would take the fun away. Eventually, wizards will have to open areas without real typo-checking so you'll have more work.
