Thanks for the info ladychris Smile It does sound like the best thing to do is to just create another character to satisfy my curiosity about other guilds.

Snafu, I've been exploring your area - great work! There are so many great areas on Nanny that I'm trying to narrow my targets down to the wizards I see in the 'who' list, those I see posting on this board, and areas noted as exceptional in other threads here. Of course, sometimes I just wander around aimlessly Smile and sometimes that gets me in trouble Wink

I think this thread has went way off-topic - but that's ok, I'm enjoying the discussion Smile thanks

This isn't mean't as a critisism LC, just another way of looking at things
perhaps. Just to add to the discussion.

Some people become attached to a/a set of chars and don't necessarily
want to play others. If that is the case, then it makes sense for them to
switch guilds with their preferred chars. Why advance another, when you
can advance your loved one?

Some people seem to get upset with people that guild hop. Personally,
I say live and let live - if it makes us happy, whats the harm?

It is easy to end up pushing a style onto others as though it was
some kind of 'defacto' standard. People push theirs on to me at times,
though I can usually laugh it off - even when they try and tell me how
to play monk or cult.

Because when you leave a guild you don't advance but actually go backwards?

I don't take it as a criticism and i never dreamed of pushing my play style onto anyone. Just gave my advice, and as for switching guilds the only case this can make me upset is when a player wasted 60/90 mins of my time for knight interview (yeah i know, my interviews are loooong  Twisted Evil ) just to switch guild next week Wink

Ooops, I agree with you both Smile I rarely switch guilds with my chars, but I can understand why you would like to play the same char all the time, checking out different guilds/playing styles. But as Ladychris mentions, it's very annoying (to put it nicely) if people pretends they are serious joining a guild (where they must have permission) and then leaving it a couple of days later. Especially for the char(s) that have interviewed/helped the 'guild-newbie', thus wasting some time.

My Scenario was based on by experiences with Vicci, with whom
I have been ridiculed by some.

I find that helping people can be frustrating, and can cost hours
that I would rather spend doing something else. I spent 3 hours
trying to help Scarlet do Slay Lag last weekend, and then promptly
got my Druid killed helping with Koba. But it can be rewarding too,
so I try and get my head out of my butt and do it from time to time.

To that end, however, I can't claim to hold a torch to LC

Vicci's cool !  Wink who could ridicule her?

Now about the guild changing ... there are certain compatibilities between guilds ... i can't imagine a vamp or a dark keeping a druid or a chef ... that would be simply strange  Question the scenario and roleplaying are sooo different  Exclamation

Carrion ... hardly wait to meet your druid  Laughing

Not all druids are spammy and friendly Razz About the incompatibilies between guilds (not sure I deciphered your sentences correctly though, honestly), I'd say that's the fine thing with roleplay, you can be a killstealing fuckwit with your vamp, a real nice and spammy good guy with your druid and a very serious power player with your dark... When it comes to my chars, they don't stray that much from my RL persona, but I try to adjust somewhat to the current guild. Most of the times I have a good idea about a new char's personality, but after a while he/it tends to adjust towards the 'Carrion standard' personality Smile

Carrion, was about to reply to previous post but you anticipated me. I could not agree more Smile

I think I may be one of the few who doenst know who is who in Nanny, but making a wizard just for that doesnt seem alright somehow Confused

Referring to the other topic, one can only play regularly a certain amount of characters, so my khorne left the guild and became a vampire. I satisfied my curiosity about khornes and knew it wasnt the kind of guild for me.

For what it is worth, I don't have 20 characters and I the only way I keep track of who is who is by deductive reasoning and the players telling me themselves.  Some people get a little upset about the deductive reasoning bit though.

Now, just because I don't have 20 characters does not mean that I don't have other characters.  Personally, if you are going to play other characters, they might as well be in different guilds with completely different styles and roleplay.  I can't think of why I would need a pair of druids for instance (Yes, I am aware there are people with a full stable of knights, but I really don't know why).

I certainly have played characters up in one guild just to move them over to another one later - some guilds are just a bit less lethal at low levels.  I can't imagine having a character that has only the purpose of guild-hopping, however.   I certainly think it makes sense to have both a druid and a dark.  Beats playing all characters the same way in my opinion.

Yeah you can even have a Knight and a Dark  Laughing
I mean going through all that boring knight interview, proving how kind and helpfull you are  Laughing (sorry can't help it) then breaking every bow you make and join darks.
As an offtopic comment ... that reminds me of those cool rock fans in highschool going to rap concerts during the day then wearing Dimmu Borgir T-Shorts at night. F****N' lame.

That's true roleplaying  Laughing
