Kid names

In my home country I've heard gipsy names like Zorro, Rambo, Winettoo or however is spelled. That's lame.
I have no idea what name would I chose, will think about that when it comes to that.

A bad name can affect the child's personality, so by the time he'd be old enough to change it the damage would have already been done. I wouldn't name my child Doughnut just cause he/she seemed sweet and puffy when born.

... and the fact I have a char on the mud with that name is just a coincidence (that of me liking the name), not that I came up with the name for the char and then slapped it on my child.

Same for me except I haven't had (and probably won't have) a daughter named Izabella so I named one of my knightesses that.

Well, anyways, given the names given to us from everyone when Melina was conceived, namely 'Ellert', 'The Monster Ellert' in full ... I think we picked a good name

You know, it just happened to occur to me yesterday, but bearing these unusual names must cause some stress for these kids.  I imagine this is the case even when the name ultimately serves the individual well as an adult.  Case in point:

Evel Kenievel (that's pronounced Evil for those of you too young to remember this motorcycle daredevil).  Interesting, a man who was so famous, more because of his name than his accomplishments, names his own son "Robbie."

The problem would be solved if only we name the new generation as we name our cats.  Flompus, Fuzzbuzzle, Piewhacket.  Then nobody has a wierd name except poor Jenny.  Let's face it -- that would be the best thing.

I don't have a problem with people giving their kids wierd names. Although I can see how it might be hard on the kids. And ok, in some cases, the names are stupid, like if you really did give a boy a girls name like Sue or something. It's not as bad the other way around, since many girls names started out as boys names. I personally tend to like ordinary-ish names, and Irish or Scottish names (picked my nick out of a book of Gaelic names, except I sortof mushed the spelling between Gaelic and Anglicized versions, ie. Ciaran vs Kieran). My favorite names tend to be: Jonathan, Alexandra (or variants), and Sebastien.
