2  NannyMUD / Wishes and Thoughts... / Nanny dying? on: March 03, 2005, 08:41:56 AM
I think Kymns idea is excellent! When I started muddig I didn't care much for money, I didn't know what to use it for, seriously how many milkshakes can you drink at once?... I wanted to learn how to PLAY the game good, how to find things, move around, interact with others and so on. I think that is the clue to get new dedicated players, showing them what the game is about and all the posibilities this game represent.  Throwings money at someone does not help (the only once who want that are those pretendig to be a newbie cause they are lazy... atleast that is what I think.)

(sorry for the poor english but I am in a little hurry)

7  NannyMUD / Wishes and Thoughts... / Should be easy. on: October 15, 2004, 05:33:39 AM
I think there was some good ideas here.
Why not do a little bit of both?

Ex. Make the PK system a little bit like in the old days, AND make the first 5 times you get killed free (no loss of XP or lvl). Then you should get a little bit time to adjust to the new style of playing. So.. when you get killed for the 6’Th time you die for real and have no more newbie advantages.
8  NannyMUD / Wishes and Thoughts... / Mission board and party club. on: October 15, 2004, 03:10:21 AM
I was reading the thread about a new party club (a great idea by the way) when it came to mind a scene we always used in my younger days when I played traditionally D&D board game.

Perhaps this idea can be of some use..
At the start of a new game we always visited the town centre and the Mission board on it. On the board there would be a vary of different missions like hunting down 10 skeletons (for low levels), finding treasures, rescue princesses and so on.

What if the club could be somewhat connected to this board. And you got points and XP for solving different missions?

There are so many quests, puzzles and great treasures in nanny, so if it would be possible to just link them to this board and the club It would take no time to get a great variety to choose from. I think this would make it easier to get players to explore and also quest again. And of course if you linked up a quest, all the party players would get their traditionally QP too.

Hi, I am still breathing. Have just been busy with other things lately, (and bad internet connection, we moved to the countryside) but I will be back when the winter comes and the evenings grow dark and long... (I live in norway)

I have wondered about you to Hewe Smile I mudded a lot this spring, but I never found you online... Great to see you again... I often think about our newbiedays, hehe It was a lot of fun Smile

Ah, and Dewiniad is still mudding.. Nice. Hopefully I will find him online some day

Yepp, the naked guy is the Cultist. You know when they loose sanity they start throwing things away, armour, clothes, money.. you name it. Wink

And the WOMAN in the blue robe you mean? Wink That is the vampire. I know they don't wear much clothing, but a naked vamp at green as well, then it will start to look more like another setting... Wink

And Idling wiz?? where???...  manipulated it's own way in there???..., because I did not draw one.

Thanks for commenting Smile
I have to admit I was kind of anxious about posting a picture of green and the characters. First of all I think green is a place we all have pictured, and the chance of me getting it to fit into everyone’s imagination would be impossible. Second the guilds, as Smudge is saying we probably picture them in different ways too, and I am not even sure if you would recognize them in the way I have drawn it. . But all these issues away, I do hope I added something positive anyways Smile

Village Green as you may know, is a crowded place -. There is one character from each guild in the drawing. If you are familiar with Nanny and if I have done my work well you should be able to figure out who is who.

--------------------

Here are a few hints:
The Vampire has just won a duel and struts proudly, waiting for the night to fall.
The Chef is returning from a good hunt, his stomach filled with the finest dishes.
The Khorne has no time to waste idling at green; and is running hastily towards her next kill (poor thing).
The Sim has finally found someone who is eagerly listening to all that …. Eh……great… spam. Wink
The Dark lurks in the shadows.
The Leper is lying on the ground, dead,.. or is she?
The Adventurer listens eagerly to the Sim, hoping to learn more about the world of Nanny.
The Master is just sitting around ignoring stuff (including every good fashion rule ever made)
The Cultist is obviously suffering from a temporary lack of sanity.. How else to explain that behaviour?
The Viking has just finished his horn of ale, and is now relaxing on his favourite carpet from Vincent’s area.
The Monk is calling upon Lars to sanctify the room.
The Knight is checking the shape of his falcon, making sure he is fit for fight, in case an attack comes up.
And last but not least.. The Druid, planting her tree.

Hmm.. Harry Potter Smile
I bought the first book some weeks ago with the idea of reading it for the kids. 2 days later I had finished it by myself, and can’t wait until I finish “The Hobbit” by JRR Tolkien so I can get started on Potter for the kids. (even if The Hobbit is extremely good, It's just that I have read it xxx times before already)

Morild (who never grows to old to enjoy a good fairytale)
15  NannyMUD / Daily Rant / Stealing kills on: June 21, 2004, 07:04:20 AM
I can see this is a hot topic, with many different views.

I was earlier posting a note on a killstealer, I thought I had lost the log, and did not remember her name, but it turned up yesterday when I had a good 'summer cleaning' om my PC so here it is Smile.

The salamander missed you.
Spiral Staircase, near bottom.
The heat is almost like the inside of a smith's furnace, searing and
unending. The staircase ends below you in a wide chamber. Above you it
spirals out of sight.
There are two obvious exits: down and up.
Kara the fierce Bloodthirster (Andy's).
A salamander guard.
say mine
Ok.
The salamander died.
You killed the salamander.
[Khorne] Kara: are you kill stealing?
[Khorne] Kara: what the fuck is up with that?
[Khorne] Civatateo: me?!?
[Khorne] Kara: we are in the same guild
[Khorne] Kara: hell yes
[Khorne] Spliff: stone him!!!
[Khorne] Civatateo: shape monster before you attack
[Khorne] Spliff: stone him to death!!!
[Khorne] Kara: why are you taking kills you cannot kill?
[Khorne] Kara: wouldnt you have to heal like a few good times to kill that on your own?
[Khorne] Ruscovic: Kara, shape the kills you are taking on...
[Khorne] Civatateo: I was killing him, if you would do 'shape' you would have seen
[Khorne] Kara: i am killing kills that neither one of you should be killing
[Khorne] Civatateo: Kara you are only 1 age higher
[Khorne] Ruscovic: Rank =)
[Khorne] Kara: still, it is a difference!
[Khorne] Ruscovic: Kara, stop bitching, you tried to steal his kill now appologize.
[Khorne] Kara: that was not a rank 15 kill
[Khorne] Ruscovic: So?
[Khorne] Kara: why am I shaping for lower guild members? is that supposed to make sense? I would do that if another rank 16 was on
[Khorne] Civatateo: what if it was a person from another guild, it is ok to  steal from other guild AND lower char from your own?
[Khorne] Kara: it depends on what guild, they have marks or signs anyway
[Khorne] Kara: and really only knights kill in that area Razz
[Khorne] Kara grins evilly.
[Khorne] Ruscovic peers at Kara.
[Khorne] Kara: afk
[Khorne] Ruscovic: Its kinda lousy to accuse someone of killstealing when its the other way around.
[Khorne] You nod solemnly.
