NannyMUD / Daily Rant / Sims
on: November 16, 2004, 11:51:36 AM
Simyarin guild has always had the ability to passively advance in the guild. Since the link was removed, that way of playing got more attractive. 10k sps / hour is very nice advancing, but kind of fades when I remember that with my chaos sim with link, I did 26k sps / hour solo Pardon my asking, but which link are you talking about?

NannyMUD / Question of the Week / Betrayal and Revenge
on: October 29, 2004, 01:48:57 AM
No, I can dream about revenge when I'm still hot and angry about the thing, but usually I become more reasonable after a good night sleep That doesn't mean I'm ready to forgive though. Usually I just avoid further contact to the betrayer, and if I'm forced by circumstances not to do so, I remain very cold. I would never lower myself to do same thing betrayer did, and I dont need to, since the betrayer will find his punishment in his own behaviour...

NannyMUD / Question of the Week / Fate, Destiny, Density....
on: October 29, 2004, 01:41:28 AM

Yes, I believe in God. At the beginning it was just because I have been taught to do so, but later my physics studies showed me the universe to be of such a complexity that there must be a superior mind behind it (call it God or how you prefer, it doesn't really matter). What I don't believe in is fate. Your destiny is not written in advance. Ofc it depends on a lot of factors and when your habits, behaviour, relation to others and such are already well settled, it is hard to imagine a total change in the course of your life. But that doesnt mean someone else is pulling the ropes of the puppet... The only responsible of your life is yourself, and blaming your failures on fate is just a lame excuse... Btw it is seldom heard of someone praising fate for his/her personal successes, did you notice?

NannyMUD / Areas / Search or not?!?
on: October 22, 2004, 08:04:29 AM
As a player i use "search" a lot and usually i get a bit annoyed if it doesnt work since i remain with the doubt the wizard just wrote a nice scenery without any deepness to it. (Or -even worse- the wizard used strongly sintax depending commands). There are however some exceptions and Mirage's great area is one. I can easily play with "exa" as well, when exa gives results As a wizard i would use both. It makes sense to search a cabinet, since just examining it would probably make you miss important details, but i would not search a wall (unless the wall is so dark you cant see details on it *hint hint*). The two verbs have a different meaning, so why not doing the right action in the right situation? As for the auto-pick-it-up, i can find it very convenient as a powerplayer, since it spares me time, not necessarily as an explorer. Again there are cases in with it makes sense, while in other you should have the option to leave the found stuff where it is.

NannyMUD / Misc / 'Fer' a tree after creating it?

Now about the guild changing ... there are certain compatibilities between guilds ... i can't imagine a vamp or a dark keeping a druid or a chef ... that would be simply strange the scenario and roleplaying are sooo different Carrion ... hardly wait to meet your druid Not all druids are spammy and friendly About the incompatibilies between guilds (not sure I deciphered your sentences correctly though, honestly), I'd say that's the fine thing with roleplay, you can be a killstealing fuckwit with your vamp, a real nice and spammy good guy with your druid and a very serious power player with your dark... When it comes to my chars, they don't stray that much from my RL persona, but I try to adjust somewhat to the current guild. Most of the times I have a good idea about a new char's personality, but after a while he/it tends to adjust towards the 'Carrion standard' personality Carrion, was about to reply to previous post but you anticipated me. I could not agree more
