Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: poogie on May 02, 2004, 07:03:11 PM From Labyrinth (with a little Poogie twist):
Are there any addictions that you have that you'd like to give up? If so, what are they and why do you want to give it up? (although the answer will probably be quite obvious.) If you have addictions and you don't want to give them up, what are they and why do you want to keep them? If you have no addictions....what the heck is wrong with you?!?! :D /P Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: Qwer on May 02, 2004, 07:17:18 PM Easiest question ever ...
smoking, obvious reasons (trying ...) computer games (keep me away from Nanny sometimes) :)) I mean Nanny is a game too, I'm just saying it should be enough. Nanny - i don't want to give that up. What else to do then in my free time? I guess I like some people too from Nanny... too bad I don't know them in RL. Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: Carrion on May 03, 2004, 01:43:28 AM No addictions I'd like to give up, really, even though (online) computer games (Nanny ofc, Unreal Tournament...) takes a bit too much time and keeps me up too late... But I DON'T WANT TO GIVE'EM UP!!11!1!!
Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: Sharky on May 03, 2004, 02:23:42 AM Hmm.... Addictions - nice topic. :) Well, for starters, I must say that when the term 'addictive personality' was invented they had me in mind. Really, in the dictionary instead of giving a long complex definition of the term 'addiction' it would've been easier to simply put a photo of mine with the explanation: 'Ask him'. :D
Ok, here I go :) I'm a sucker for: - my girlfriend... yup, I'm definitely addicted  - computer games (nanny included) - good food - good wine (I love beer, too, but wine really hits the spot for me) - good music - anything that is High-Tech (especially things related to networking) - witty people (it's so hard to find them in RL nowadays); even better if they have a strong sense of humour and a couple of other things I'm sure I'm missing right now :) But I don't intend to give any of these up.... ever! :D Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: Dain on May 03, 2004, 04:59:05 AM mmm that's twisted alright:
addicted to metal : that's not gonna change. addicted to nanny : idem addicted to gaming : idem Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: Morild on May 03, 2004, 06:37:23 AM Let's see... Smoking (gave that up in January after 10 years non-stop...) still miss it... :(
Hmm.. Nanny... nope I don't wanna give that up too... !! Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: ladychris on May 03, 2004, 08:21:44 AM Easy question and easily answered: NANNY!
And no, I don't want to give it up :) Apart from this, hmmm not many. Good food, good wine and good books I'd say, but i can resist without too for a while (just a while, mind 8) ) Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: romichete on May 03, 2004, 08:55:04 AM Nanny and smoking
And i wont give up Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: Qwer on May 03, 2004, 09:39:51 AM They say what doesn't kill you it just makes you stronger, IMHO smoking is an exception to that.
I also like beer but I couldn't say I'm addicted, I could live without it I think. I like it but it's not a real addiction. I won't give that up anyway, hope I won't need to. :P I don't have many addictions I think (not sure people who knows me would say the same, dunno). Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: Snafu on May 03, 2004, 02:53:06 PM Nanny and my computers and I am not giving either one up!
/Snafu :D Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: poogie on May 03, 2004, 05:09:58 PM I have quite a few addictions that I'm not willing to give up. These ones are permanent and I've had for awhile. I'm addicted to Coca Cola, Nannymud, my computer and daydreaming. Some of my past addictions that I've been able to overcome, and that I also called my "guilty pleasures" are cd buying, hockey card collecting and collecting beanie baby bears.
Additionally I have temporary addictions, usually with food. There's chicken caesar salad, food from Einstein Bagels, food from Jason's Deli, Chipotle burritos, and occasionally ice cream, etc... These temporary ones might not seem like real addictions but they come in waves and I crave just that one thing for a period of time and then move on to something else. It's rather like a pregnant woman but I've been this way all my life....being pregnant with Nick just enhanced it. ;) /P who loves her addictions and holds them close to her heart. [/b] Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: garetjax on May 03, 2004, 05:37:33 PM Well, I have this newly acquired addiction where I keep hitting reload on this Forum on the web and I have to see if anyone has posted anything new on it. My name is garetjax and I have a problem.
*thanks a lot spamfu!!!!* :P Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: Dissectica on May 03, 2004, 06:11:02 PM Well...
1.Nanny (of course), a very big addiction here. Would I want to get rid of it? Nah, not really, but it would help a lot if I would kind of reschedual my nannytime and NOT log in when I should be at school  Also it could be good if I at least did go to bed before the sun rises SOME day of the week. 2. Music (read metal), another big addiction, nothing I want to get rid of, rather it keeps me alive. 3. Trocadero, feels like it keeps me alive as well, but here at least I have an addiction I would want to get rid of, or at least not have as an "daily-use-issue". 4.Vampire-movies (or the vampire-theme in general), very addicted and totally need it thank you very much! A new addiction that I helped to create? Um...am I now addicted to making addictions? And thanks, Garetjax! Snafu :D Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: Allyene on May 03, 2004, 10:22:25 PM MUD, obviously...
Coffeine (Mostly in the form of Trocadero) *pokes Diss* Music, if that counts as an 'addiction'... Hmm. Computergames too, I suppose. Once in a while something really good is made, like the Baldur's gate series, which I'll gladly spend countless hours with. (Alright, I love those those fancy shooters and action games too). Though I firmly believe that the REAL games were made back in the years for the Amiga computer! Anyway, would I want to get rid of anything of the above? Hell no. If I did, I'd just get rid of it...err, I think... Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: Yberiel on May 04, 2004, 01:22:18 AM My addiction is like everone elses in here, Nanny first of all and most of the people in it. What would I do without my Nanny? Probably have what other people calls a normal life, but Nanny is one thing I will never get rid off.
My other addiction is music. Without music in my life, not much would fill up my soul. And my third addiction is Coca Cola. It will not pass a day without me having at least one can of that blessed drink. And my newest addiction is this forum. Hitting the reload button quite often so see when and if someone posted a new post or replied to other posts. Will I give this forum, the music and Coca Cola up? Most likely not. Ybbie.. Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: Yavathol on May 04, 2004, 06:59:54 AM Hmmm, my real addictions... funny how those accumulate in life.
Well, since I did give up smoking quite a few years ago now, and believe it or not, those cravings do ease up with time, I would have to say that I really on have two "addictions." 1) Anything Nanny, and this is like a real addiction. No matter how many times I've tried to put it down and walk away, I keep coming back. I think that I will simply always come back. Guess I just need it. 2) Caffeine! This probably isn't a real addiction as such - much as food isn't really an addiction but a neccesity for others, so is caffeine to me. If you still count your coffee by the cup, you can't imagine the need I have. Although I suppose for anyone who thinks 4 hours of sleep is more than adequate, a couple of pots of coffee, a few liters of cola and mass quantities of tea should be dietary staples... Ah well, that's really all the addictions I have left these days... well, that and a propensity for trouble. Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: Dain on May 04, 2004, 09:43:47 AM just noticed Yav's sig .. and i have to make this comment.
six beers in a small pack ... and usually in here there are six hours classes ..... ideas? Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: Yavathol on May 04, 2004, 03:01:39 PM As a side note, I tend to change my sig whenever the mood strikes me, and it changes on all previous posts as well, so, for the sake of posterity, the quote that Dain is referring to is:
24 hours in a day ... 24 beers in a case..... coincidence? Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: poogie on May 04, 2004, 03:41:31 PM Quote from: Yberiel And my third addiction is Coca Cola. I totally totally agree with Ybbie. Cans of Coca Cola are by far the best. Then coke from McDonalds. After that it really doesn't matter. I know there are a lot of beer and p*ps* lovers but nothing hits the spot like an icy cold can of coke. Also, I agree that I'm addicted to this forum. Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: Avis on May 04, 2004, 03:49:41 PM Sex is my addiction. Smokers and Nanny-addicts aside, I don't think most of you really know what addiction is.
Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: Snafu on May 04, 2004, 03:53:06 PM Another addiction to add for myself: Dr Pepper.
Aka, nectar of the gods, and I know there are many others of like mind. /Snafu :D Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: Prime on May 05, 2004, 09:48:35 AM I'm addicted to Poogus!

If I don't have caffeine constantly (at least once a day from Coke) I get headaches and I get really bitchy. I write this as I'm drinking my morning Coke. I'm sure coffee lovers can relate too. /P Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: Yavathol on May 05, 2004, 04:50:35 PM Quote from: poogie Quote from: Avis Sex is my addiction. Standing, sitting, walking.... some funny stories there. Should be done with that by next week when I get back to a schedule that an actual mortal can at least tolerate. Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: Morild on May 06, 2004, 03:12:31 AM ah.. how could I forget, I need my coffee. (3 cups a day, keeps the headache away).. and I am starting to become an addict to this Forum.
Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: Longstrider on May 06, 2004, 02:28:45 PM Addiction I want to give up? None whatsoever. They're too much fun!
Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: Valdor on May 07, 2004, 05:28:10 PM The only two addictions I have now are Orkfia and Nanny. I do like a lot of things, but I can't call those an addiction. For now I don't want to quit either, else I simply would.
Title: 3 May 2004 Post by: Jose on May 10, 2004, 09:07:20 AM Something realy important must happen to give up my addictions.. something that would change me forever.
Well until then I'll keep them ... even collect some more. |
