Title: Funny Memories Post by: poogie on April 21, 2004, 02:40:35 AM What about a time when you did something or something happened to you that made you angry but now you laugh about it? Maybe you were searching for a quest item for hours and then discovered that it was right in front of you the whole time...Maybe your friends got together and played a prank on you. Or even just silly things you may have done or seen.
I know I must have many many stories of this variety but for now I can only think of one and I was sworn to secrecy on that. I'll have to think about it a bit and I'm sure I can come up with something but in the meantime go ahead and post. =) /P who has her lips zipped Title: Funny Memories Post by: garetjax on April 21, 2004, 03:03:49 AM How many times have we seen a private snog go onto a public line? Especially when you're partyline alias is ps and you have Sp for the spam line.
Title: Funny Memories Post by: Jose on April 21, 2004, 03:58:17 AM I remember someone told me to make room ... so i dropped something... the guy didnt said nothing after but later i discovered a hit me sticker on me :D
I was doing that quest with the walking castle and when i finally took over the castle i found it was trapped inside a huge tentacle on the village dump :) ... Title: Funny Memories Post by: Vehement on April 21, 2004, 05:55:00 AM Similar to garetjax's - there is nothing quite as horrible as that moment when you see something incriminating which was meant to be a tell go out over the guild line due to a misplaced space.
My worst was over the Assembly line. I can't remember the precise details, save that it took me about six months before I could think about it without cringing. Another thing which I can (just about) laugh about now is when my wiz got demoted. Actually, thinking about it, it still winds me up. Shutting up about that already. Title: Funny Memories Post by: Carrion on April 21, 2004, 09:15:52 AM My chars seldom die, but when they do I can get VERY annoyed...
For example, one of those chars was fighting the Golem in Celeste, I knew I had wimpy on so I didn't think so much about it as I was called away (by girlfriend or kid). Hmmm, there is no 'normal' way out from the Golem, so I found my char dead of course. I can laugh about it now :) Another time was with my most wealthy char, who picked up the sword in Mats' temple... Hmmm, there went about 800k to /dev/null. I _almost_ laughed at it right away though, 'cause it had happened before (but that was years back). Title: Funny Memories Post by: Kherec on April 21, 2004, 10:10:27 AM Sometimes when I get into a discussion with someone, that goes awry, I like to vent off to a friend or something ... and when I do, I sometimes get so worked up that I end up sending the tell (complaining about it) to the person I'm annoyed with, instead of my friend, because when I start writing 'tell <someone>' I am too worked up to notice I'm putting the wrong name as the recipient. Anyways, atleast I do it a lot less now that I stopped using 'reply' ... perhaps I should start using 'ltell' or whatever the command is to send a tell to the last person I sent a tell too, to avoid further embarassments.
Once I did that to an admin btw, and I can tell you that was extremely uncomfortable because the tell was fairly rich and colourful ;) Title: Funny Memories Post by: ladychris on April 21, 2004, 02:22:32 PM I'll tell you the story of a time i was not angry (i cant get angry on nanny) but really really scared
I had just joined knights, so was, if not a real newbie, at least a newbie to knights, with all the bad habits of an adventurer... Yeah, there has been a time when my future RT had no scruple whatsovever at grabbing whatever loot might lie on ground or finishing a kill someone else might have started. By joining knights i knew such habits where unacceptable, and had been told about command "check" but for some reason i was unable to use it (maybe because i stubbornly used it without a target?). Anyway i was probably a Distinguished Maid and was keen to make as much xp as i could. At that time Ghan Toth was a great fighting ground for knights since the monsters align had not been downcoded yet, so i used to spend a lot of time there. In particular i was craving for killing Dyvrim, an accomplishment that usually took all my scarce logging time. That day Bluejedi had got Hurshag platemail and kindy offered it to me. (yeah, he gave it to me directly, without asking on line first... to me! to the smallest maid around!) Then, on wearing it i saw message "you look invulnerable"... WOW! I was simply beaming and since i had only a few more mins to play i just run to Ghan Toth... Unfortunately a few guards on the way didnt seem intentioned to let me pass through... I had little time, a very vague notion of how to use command "check" and very bad adventurers habits, so i just killed them and passed through - What had I done!!! An evil vampire, had already started them and when he saw me selling the loot he accused me of killstealing. (Which was exactly what i had done :P ). I still remember his words "Hehe, logged! You can say goodbye to knighthood." My heart sunk. I did love knights guild, I felt at home there (and more there was a certain knight there, to whom i was just one more newbie but that had just offered me the best armour around...) So i frantically asked on line what was I to do, i had accidentally stolen a kill and now i was in peril... Someone suggested me to offer to pay the vamp back. I vaguely realized that money might be not all, that by stealing a kill you steal more than just a bit of loot, anyway i gave a tell to Vehement (yeah, it was him  ) and offered him to repay him for the kill (2K coins, a capital for me at that time  ). He accepted and bowed without saying a word. ...But i was still scared. He had said nothing about that threaten, I didnt know if he considered himself satisfied and had no heart to ask him... Besides, my logging time was over so I had to log off. During that night my resolution was taken, I would have talked to a RT and confessed my crime :( I was kinda scared by RTs, but there was one who, in spite of his stern and grave look, had been kind to me ;) So next day i gave a tell to Bluejedi asking for an interview. He summoned me to RT ante... brrrrr, never been there, almost lost myself in Camelot :( Anyway I shily explained him my story and ended with a frantic plea, please please, i didnt want to be banished... *Grin* he sternly adviced me not to do it anymore, explained me how to use "check" command and explained that no vamp or any other from outside Camelot would have ever managed to make me lose my knighthood :) I felt soooo relieved :) I would have kissed him, but ofc i was too puny and shy ;) But Vehement's name still remained in my memory (maybe also because i had smiled vehemently to him :P) as one of the scariest chars around, one that you better not piss off ;) Title: Funny Memories Post by: sUiko-den on April 21, 2004, 03:51:51 PM Suiko fear no vampires, suiko likes to killsteal do it whenever he can :P
no that's not a confession, but i have as well accidently and intentionally killstealed... mostly it's because i wanted to payback  Title: How's this Post by: Snafu on April 21, 2004, 03:58:16 PM How's this:
(>Barbers<) Aegir buries Poogus. (>Barbers<) Poogus tapes Aegir to the ceiling with her special Flair taping tape. (>Barbers<) Charlie snickers. (>Barbers<) Aegir grins evilly. (>Barbers<) Charlie waves at Aegir from the ground. (>Barbers<) Poogus tapes Charlie up there as well. (>Barbers<) Aegir licks Charlie. (>Barbers<) Charlie tickles Aegir closely. (>Barbers<) Charlie: since i'm on ceiling now too (>Barbers<) Charlie giggles merrily. (>Barbers<) Aegir grins evilly. (>Barbers<) Charlie will have to wait for Labyrinth's accurate razor. (>Barbers<) Poogus pees at Aegir and Charlie from down below. (>Barbers<) Charlie knows Poogus will get it. ;) (>Barbers<) Charlie: i hope that was meant to be peers (>Barbers<) Charlie grins evilly at Poogus. (>Barbers<) Poogus gasps in astonishment. (>Barbers<) Poogus: Damn it! (>Barbers<) Charlie rolls on the floor laughing! (>Barbers<) Aegir grins evilly. (>Barbers<) Poogus blushes deeply and blushes again. (>Barbers<) Aegir cackles gleefully. (>Barbers<) Poogus sighs and shakes her head. (>Barbers<) Poogus: gotta keep in mind that it is only 0630 here....and my son woke me up all night.....and i'm trying to think of a few more excuses ;) (>Barbers<) Aegir chuckles. (>Barbers<) Charlie: so peeing on people works for the insanity plea? (>Barbers<) Poogus: I wouldn't know, yet..... (>Barbers<) Charlie giggles merrily. (>Barbers<) Poogus: I haven't done anything to have to go to court :P (>Barbers<) Charlie will have to trump up a charge. /Snafu :D Title: Funny Memories Post by: Vehement on April 21, 2004, 04:43:12 PM Quote anyway i gave a tell to Vehement (yeah, it was him  ) Aww, I'd completely forgotten about that. I used to play Vehement as a bastard back then. Nowadays I can't be bothered with being nasty to people. :) That was probably the evillest thing I ever did, actually. I seem to remember feeling some pang of guilt at the time. Title: Funny Memories Post by: Dain on April 22, 2004, 03:30:59 AM well C you're not the only one who stole kills from Vehement. :D
I did it to .. but probably he was over the bastard phase. Title: Funny Memories Post by: garetjax on April 26, 2004, 02:49:42 PM I remember there was some kind of water cannon that was good for a laugh. Someone had replaced it near the village green one day and both mortals and wizzes alike were spamming up the entire place as everyone could see the streams of water drenching people.
Title: Funny Memories Post by: Avis on April 26, 2004, 03:27:11 PM The time I mis-lined "Look, Jesus' face in my cum" with the "shout" command.
Title: Funny Memories Post by: Wolfenhex on May 06, 2004, 10:15:16 AM I remember when I sold "A stick." over the trade line for a 5 digit price.
Title: Funny Memories Post by: Qwer on May 06, 2004, 03:10:41 PM There was a time when I was really bored and tried to kill newbs, teleported them with my sim near aggressive monsters. Managed to took down like 4 of them. Also once I took a rl friend to pet and got him killed (with same sim char). It's now a very peaceful character.
Title: Funny Memories Post by: Snafu on May 06, 2004, 04:55:20 PM Hanzou's character named Kitana used to take newbies to pet...needless to say, he no longer plays here. Last I saw of him, he was on Gateway mud and that was 7 years or so ago...
/Snafu :D Title: Funny Memories Post by: Qwer on May 07, 2004, 02:03:40 PM Please please please, I don't wanna play Gateway mud!
I'm nice now!! Title: Funny Memories Post by: Smudge on May 09, 2004, 02:22:10 AM I sold a dead chia pet (either a unicorn or poochie) for 2k over Trades once. But I felt bad for it and returned the gold.
Title: Funny Memories Post by: Qwer on May 10, 2004, 07:21:29 AM I once tried to sell a non-unique (but good) 2-handed sword on Trade line, but people jumped on me that I want to trick newbies. The sword would've been pretty expensive in shop, more than 2k anyway, so actually I was doing something good; I really thought that someone might need that.
I just didn't know there was a rule not to sell non-uniques on the trade line. One of those who accused me was some well-respected knight, don't remember his/her name; not that it would matter. It's just that some high level and guildlevel players can be so n00bs, unfortunately. Title: Funny Memories Post by: Jose on May 10, 2004, 07:28:27 AM heh I try to sell junk on trade line all the time. Even bought some ;). Who said there aren't very good non unique items.
Title: Funny Memories Post by: Snafu on May 10, 2004, 02:45:54 PM I would not think it would matter whether it was unique or not and I do NOT think it is a requirement.
/Snafu :D Title: memories... Post by: Ereshkigal on July 31, 2005, 06:28:18 PM A few amusing memories from a few years back:
A failed dark ritual: The leader of that ritual picked 4w,15n from green as the location for the ritual. It turned out later that you can't use the "say" command in this room because there is a waterfall that drowns out everything you say. I think there were around 4-5 darks in this ritual and we all sat there trying to figure out what to do about it. And then someone realized that you could perform the ritual using the "go" command instead of "say". By then a good amount of time had already elapsed and so the leader (poor guy, whoever he was) struggled to copy and paste the ritual lines in with the "go" command. With all the pressure, he did it wrong. So the ritual failed anyway. ;) A tantrum: So there was this other ritual that I was leading. And some idiot newbie dark decided to quit after it was initiated because he didn't have a light for it. I was probably having a really bad day and this really irritated me. So I shouted for him to log back on in case he was logged on with another char. Some wizard decided that this was bad use of the shout command and gave me a shoutcurse. This really irritated me and I bitched about it on the spammers line. And to my consternation, Slakktor said that he did agree with whoever cursed me and in fact, if he hadn't had earmuffs which blocked out the shout in the first place, he would have done it himself. This was the last straw for me and I just quit the spammers club. No one had any idea why I got _so_ excited over it all, and to this day, neither do I. Die by my blade: At some point, I spent much of my time killing Pet over and over. This was largely because a knight used to pay me tons of money to get him the platemail and I really enjoyed making him pay outrageous amounts. But I think I also wanted a high position on the killers plaque for reasons that I can no longer understand. Once I decided that I would shout "Die by my blade!" right after the kill, just to show off. And I wanted it to do that shout with almost no delay, so I made a trigger for it. Unfortunately, I later forgot to disable the trigger and kept shouting it afterwards and didn't realize it. I remember Snafu making fun of me about that. I tried to explain that it was a trigger, but no one believed me. Law's corpse: Do people remember Law? He was this dark who used to play a lot until he got banished. He was a fairly high paragon, on the paragon toplist for a brief period until he got himself killed a couple of times. Once he went linkdead and didn't statue and so he died in the Morc monastery. So of course, I got Brom's hag to locate him and went and looted his corpse. Just as I was leaving the monastery, Oriole came in, saw me and left. Obviously she had had the same idea. Hmm... is robbing corpses knightly? Even an enemy's corpse? Of course, morals don't apply to me since I am a dark. :) Ereshkigal the warmonger: I used to love basalt keep attacks. Once I used sensitive eyes to blind a knightess during the attack. It wasn't as if she was really contributing much for the defence, but it amused me to irritate people. And the knights certainly were irritated. I remember getting some "warnings" from Bluejedi. Later this knightess started playing the attacks with her simyarin, but was convinced that I was trying to kill her. So for a few attacks after that, everytime she had a bad time in an attack (with no contributions on my part), I got "warnings" from the knights. A fiasco: I once had a trigger to make me quit and I forgot to disable it. Then later in a basalt keep attack, something set off this trigger just after the attack had begun which made me quit and by the time I got back to the keep, the knights (Bluejedi was one...and some other knight I think) had slaughtered all the defenceless flames. Needless to say, I was not very amused then..but they were. Nectaris and the knights: A funny log Pasca sent me once... (watch how Nectaris boosts the price and gets away with it) [Trade] Nectaris: JC's cloak & JC's ring. [Trade] Nodge: 5k [Trade] Nectaris: 6k both [Trade] Alert: 7k both [Trade] Nectaris: Sold, Alert. Falcon hunting: And then there was the time when I used the scrolls from Brom's area to summon a demon on green. Garetjax was idling on green then and started laughing at me thinking I was setting a trap for newbies. And while we were joking around, he failed to notice that it was killing his falcon... ;) I am soooo sorry GJ! (yeah right ;) ) That's all for now. ;) Maybe this wasn't as funny to everyone else, but it was fun remembering things. :) Ereshkigal Title: Re: memories... Yeah, there are some memories there. Title: Re: Funny Memories Post by: draculea on February 05, 2007, 08:36:06 AM More, more !
Title: Re: Funny Memories Post by: Mistress on September 03, 2007, 06:28:03 PM Uh oh, Eresh, I'm sure that was my alt in the dark ritual. I probably logged back on to say what and then ran off when you got mad!
I never did get the hang of the darks, due to my angelic nature (I'm sure!) Title: Re: Funny Memories Post by: Ereshkigal on September 03, 2007, 10:04:26 PM No, it wasn't you. :) It was someone else with a knight as his first char though... I forget his name..something with a Z.
I do have a funny memory about you though! You were idling in the room south of Pet to hide from the tag club people. And I saw you there once and warned you that it was a dangerous place. Then a few days later Ydo (a vampire) wanted to kill Pet and found you there. He tried to get you to move but you were probably afk and didn't move. So he went ahead and attacked Pet and the flames killed you. And they destroyed the corpse and the coins with it. You thought that Ydo had stolen your coins and started complaining on Paragon line. So I said to Ydo in a private tell that I had warned you before. So he immediately quotes me on the Paragon line (and I'm thinking, "Nooooo! Leave me out of it!"). I think you were pretty mad at both of us. :P Eresh Title: Re: Funny Memories Post by: Mistress on September 04, 2007, 04:09:54 PM Hahaha!
I took Nanny soooooo seriously in those days. I must have come across as really annoying lol. I recall hiding out near Pet, no idea why that was now apart from that I had a shortcut to get there and it was a place I couldn't be found. In my latter Nanny days I was often AFK, roleplaying in another window, so serves me right if I got murdered by Pet. I think I had the record for most deaths by Pet and even as the angelic sickeningly good character I was, I killed my fair share of newbies in a misguided effort to get them vast amounts of XP by killing him with them - what was I thinking? Asides from Pet, I remember going to the cinema to see Lord of the Rings, and I was SOOO overjoyed at seeing a Balrog, I shouted out in there and my friend just looked at me as if I was mad. I'm such a geek lol Missy Title: Re: Funny Memories Post by: Carrion on September 05, 2007, 12:34:30 PM Hahaha! I took Nanny soooooo seriously in those days.
