The princess bride. The smurfs. Discworld by Terry Pratchett. Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind. Davey Crocket. Monty Python and the holy grail. The works of HP Lovecraft and the Cthulhu Mythos. NannyMUD is famed for it's originality, both in the areas, monsters and it's guilds. Were you inspired by Moorcock? the name was a bit familiar and I checked I have and read "Crónicas del campeón eterno" where a hero lives eternally...and is so tired poor man. From the rest of the list, I think I have only read The Princess Bride (la princesa prometida) y several of Pratchett (in english). I'd suggest you go with those first and foremost :)
