Title: Who made it, where and why
Post by: Carrion on October 01, 2004, 02:40:10 AM
I often get faint memories of areas, items and monsters of the past. Not being able to remember who made those, or even where they were located...

Just to get the thread going, I'll say Sausagia... I'd guess it was 3w then south from green, with that sign saying 'Sausagia NOW' or something... Not that I really think it was something special about it, but nostalgia just can't be beaten! So, anyone remember it, who made it, and what was it about? Perhaps that was the area with the nazis... Not sure about that though...

I remember the area but damned if I can't remember who made it. Hrm.

I DO remember castlemonster though! That was fun to kill.

Who could forget Tasselhoff's teenage mutant ninja turtle area (*hide poogie*)

Ok, here's another one, and it's probably very long gone!

Years (and years and...) ago, there was a ruin to the southeast of the clearing (4 west of green). I think it was southeast, or possibly just 'enter ruin', to get into it. Inside you could get down somewhere, into a cave system (or cellar perhaps), with some monster (knight?). Hmmm, I actually think it was a cellar, you had to find the key (in some tower of the ruin) to get down there... Does ANYONE remember this? My feeling is that it was a VERY long time ago I actually was there... Interesting area? Have no idea, can't remember!

I remember the ruin, but thats about it.

I also remember a castle in that area that had 'rainbow guards' in. I
think there was a portal back to the church, which was useful because I
would get lost! I can't remember the name of the castle though :/

I do remember Michael's castle on the plains, with the quest to give the
dragon statue an amulet, with some tough to kill wizards, that lightninged
me.

I don't remember that. It may have been before my time. But, I DO remember Garric's (?) quest? The Black Tower one? It might have been something like that wiz-wize...but the quest killed A LOT of people.

Oh yeah!
And I also remember i used to love those as a young knight.
Of course, I never got to find out where they came from, because as I grew up the area closed

Around 1995-1996, there was this place.
I think from green, a few south then west.
You would go down (maybe there were some pyramids) and there were some mummies that had some jewels as loot.

Anyone remembers anything? What area?
Thinking about the theme of the area (pyramids and mummies) I was thinking maybe it was moved to Antharis.

Sounds a bit like Dz's area, but that was I think 4w n w from green... Pyramid and mummies, anyway :)

Ramses had his area near Dz's too, I think, can't remember exactly what was there, but pyramids and mummies sound plausible there too :)

In Ramses area, you had Ramses Party. Beldin and I used to hunt there back in the day. That was ages ago. Those mobs had some very nice items.

I know the area, it was made by Quant's previous wizard. Since he managed to get all his wizards banished, I really don't remember his name, but I remember the area.

Just ripped open some old archives to find this... the wizard was called 'Ketchup'.  The last file was modified November 1995, which may be when it was last open?  Most files, however, were edited in 1990. :)

The words in question were "SAUSAGIA NOW OPEN - 1km".

There is a nazi.  Also Indiana Jones.

My guess is that it didn't get ported to the new libraries because of the anachronisms and lack of medieval fantasy theme.

The area doesn't appear to be anything special, but as you rightly point out, nostalgia can't be beaten.  Perhaps it's better to let it remain nostalgia and leave this area a memory?
