Title: Area maps
Post by: Dain on April 06, 2004, 01:46:09 AM
Post here if you have ascii maps of areas (whole or
part). If possible try to mark the more important places (healing places, area board etc). No hints for quest please. You c
an post the map itself or a link to it.

This is a map of the Village Green (marked with an X).  It is south of the church and is very useful for getting to other places.

Oh... ok... here's that one area with the thing in it.

X-X-X-X
|
X-X-X-X
          |
      X-X-X-X-X
                |
            X-X-X-X

Just remember, when you're there, look out for that one monster that can kill you with the one sword or rope or dagger or something... you know that one.

Everybody knows how to get there, but it's just that the secret passage behind the thing is hard to find.  I think I'm the only one that knows about it.  Just don't turn the thing to the left before entering the fountain of Krsgurstein.  And when you turn the knob, make sure you specify which thing you are carrying for it.

Ask the sentient being which way the Forest of Elemeno is, and he'll give you that one item for you to take to the prince.  Give it to him, and he'll give you the map.  But then, it doesn't matter if he gives you the map, beacuse it's identical to the one I drew above.  Of course, the keep is marked with the letter R and not another X, and the garden where you dig for the fork is marked with a 9 and not another X, but that's SW of the barn, and that IS marked with an X... so that's clearly marked on the map above that the prince gives you.

Have fun!

I don't think this is part of a quest.... it's just a cool area.  You've got to see it.

There is a map shop on Antharis, you know... you can obtain basic maps of most of the areas there....

If you really want, i could probably get them shown here (after all, they're readily available to players who bother their arses to travel to Antharis :) )

i'm a lazy ass :(
i have never checked that shop. if i want a map i prefere to spend some time in the area and draw one myself.

but maybe i can help you with some more maps.

Would this count as an "ascii map"?

This is a map of the road, with connections, in the western part of Brom's area.

Code:

      |             |                 |        |  |           |  |                   |
    -[]-[*] -[]-[]-[]-[]-[]-[]-[]-[]-[]-[]-[]-[]-[]-[]-[]-[]-[]-[]-[]-[]-[] -[*]-[]-[]-CASTLE
         |                |  |                             |                         |

The
Code:
[*]
means there's a non-grid direction there, too.

This forum's editor doesn't make it easy to post such maps, as it is very wide. This will be a problem for any big area. We'll be forced to post maps of narrow vertical strips...

The map could be compressed by using just a + for the location, instead of [] or
  • , but I have found that you'll end up having to add space in between anyway.

............................................................................

This is the road from Port hope to the east end of Brom's area. Each dot means a room.

Looks like ya missed a room in there..or two..or Brom has shortened his area a room or two? ;)

Hard to tell at this resolution :D

..............................................................................

Sorry! I did miss two rooms, I only counted them to the daemon but now checked it to make sure and noticed I forgot the last two ones. Thanks!
I hope noone got lost because of my flawed map. :(

The place I visit very often:
 ...:

Another preferred one:

 ...``

Interesting, these two overlap already. Hmm, weird village.
I usually sell the bottles, I go like this from the Rose & the Dragon:

::

Someone fix the village, I am feeling dizzy. Or is just the firebreather ... ?
Now I don't visit this often neither in Nanny, it's boring irl and annoying in Nanny:

 :

(dirs are from green, I let you to find out which room is the village green)
Now I'm sure Snafu appreciate these maps as they save space. These bytes are smaller than others right? Let's just compare:

X == .  ?

Oh yeah, these are not same size bytes for sure.

I see you've made a nice pic of your arse there, Qwer. Very fucking useful; it's full of your head. Great effort, you fucking lamer.

Yet another DEAD forum on the net, which died due to the lack of quality of the people attending.

Spamfu, you need a sink-holee to put clowns like Qwer in.

Really, chill a bit will you? I agree that 'joke' has been made too many times in the thread, but a nicer remark would have done a better job to keep this forum alive and well...

It seems we always take the good with the bad. Ironic isn't it?

As for who is good and who is bad, thats always subjective as well, isn't it?

Yes, we need more quality posts to keep this forum alive. :)

Who the hell is chill anyway. His avatar is lame.

Should I post maps for all the areas I know then? Then perhaps next week we should start to post maps to 'favourite' quests, along with solutions.

I'm just trying to fill my free time with something, and few posts won't overload the machine the forum runs on, I guess. People might just jump over my posts, eventually; that's why PgDn is made for.

No one is saying you should post full maps, on the contrary...
But actually using PgDn is exactly what makes a forum die ;)
So if we could try to keep jokes to a smart level, would not hurt anyone (the machine doesnt protest, humans do)  :)

Does that mean that you all should only post things I am interested in?
And by the way I am not interested in some lame newb's cursings and that didn't help much in increasing this thread's 'quality' either, or did it?
Yes, I do PgDn if I am not interested in a post.
And no, when I am posting something, I am not trying to post something that even my grandchildren will remember as being some very smart stuff.

Are we free in posting unless we break a long set of rules? I'm tired of this. (this was just a rhetorical question)

Hmm, then I have the feeling I am the only one who doesn't read each post on this forum.
Excuse me, I am not interested in every and each of them and I also have a job.

whell here's the way to my favorite room in nanny:
"enter portal"->[XTO]
legend:
X-board
T-toplist
O-portal to another place
I like it cause it has almost no trafic and it's close to green and a litle hint Danny coded it ;)

Actually unless you are interested in board and/or toplist you can go O directly :P

'lo and behold. There's actually a map somewhere on spamfunet now, a REAL map. Was considering putting this note in the "Art" forum, but it ended up here in the end :)

And look at the date, could be Nostalgia too!

Edit: And I also must give a BIG thanks to Snafu too, you're not fast, but you are reliable ;)
